In the United States, Philip has covered innumerable Presidential debates, and Trump rallies across the country. Broadcasters from around the world trust Philip with their coverage of world events. He regularly reports for the likes of Voice of America, Spectrum, Scripps News, Euronews, CGTN, TRT World, Arise News, EWTN, as well as national broadcasters in the likes of Australia, New Zealand, France, Belgium, Germany, Switzerland, Luxembourg, South Korea, Canada, and the United States.

Before moving to Washington in 2011, he was a reporter and news anchor at France 24 in Paris, covering events in Ghana, Angola, South Africa, Germany, the United Kingdom, as well as the revolution in Libya.

Philip Crowther is a multilingual US-based TV and radio journalist. He is the International Affiliate Reporter for the Associated Press, and reports in English, French, Spanish, German, Portuguese, and Luxembourgish, for AP’s broadcast partners.

He covers US diplomacy, foreign policy, politics, and current affairs, and reports from around the world on breaking news stories. He was the president of the White House Foreign Press Group during the Trump transition and is a current member of the White House Correspondents' Association, having covered both the Obama and Trump administrations. 

Philip joined the AP’s Global Media Services department in March 2019 and has since covered major events around the world. He has reported extensively from Ukraine since the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion, as well as from Israel during its war on Hamas, and from Syria after the overthrow of Bashar Al-Assad. He has covered G20, G7, and NATO summits across the globe, and the Olympic Games in Tokyo, Beijing, and Paris. In the Americas, he has covered a coup attempt in Venezuela, wildfires in Brazil, and the hurricane Dorian aftermath in The Bahamas. 

He holds a bachelor's degree in Hispanic Studies from King's College London, and a postgraduate diploma in Broadcast Journalism from the London College of Communication (University of the Arts, London).

In 2021, he was a winner of the Professional Excellence Award from the Association of Foreign Press Correspondents in the United States. Philip was made a Knight of the Order of Merit of his native Luxembourg and was awarded the Oliver S. Gramling Achievement Award in 2022 for his work covering the war in Ukraine for the Associated Press. In 2023 he was awarded an honorary PhD from Miami University.

He was born in Luxembourg to a British father and German mother. He is a native speaker of English, German and Luxembourgish as well as a fluent speaker of French, Spanish and Portuguese. He dabbles in Catalan, Arabic, Ukrainian, Italian, and would be more than happy to learn Esperanto if others were to follow suit.
